Elsevier offers world-class content via a number of publishing platforms.

ScienceDirect is one of the world's leading providers of full text Scientific, Technical and Medical (STM) information. Designed to serve the needs of the researcher, ScienceDirect offers immediate access to the full text of journal and book content needed for research. With more than 11 million full-text articles available online, an expanding suite of backfiles (titles loaded from Volume 1, Issue 1) and high-quality books, ScienceDirect is an invaluable tool for more than 10 million scientists around the world.

How can ScienceDirect help me in my editorial role?

  • Quick Search for authors: the Quick Search box on every page of ScienceDirect enables you to search for an author. This is a quick way to see who has previously had work published in journals in ScienceDirect, and what area they are publishing in.
  • Cited by: When you are reading an article in ScienceDirect, you can click on the "Cited by" function - which will then display a list of all other articles in ScienceDirect that cite the paper you are reading. This is a helpful way of looking for potential referees. "Cited by" can also be saved as an alert.
  • Easy route to authors: Within the article details, you can (in most cases) find a direct e-mail link to the corresponding authors, as well as the name of the institute where they are based. This saves time and can improve the speed and efficiency of communications.
  • Author Gateway: Recognizing that the users of ScienceDirect are also potential authors, ScienceDirect links to the Elsevier Science Author Gateway. This enables users to view guides for authors for each journal, submit papers online (where available), track the status of articles throughout the publication and printing service and set up tracking alerts on their papers.
  • Favorite journal list and alerts: With your user name and password, it is easy to create a favorite journal list within ScienceDirect. It is also easy to set up new issue alerts, so that you can stay up to date with the latest publications as they go live, rather than having to check each day.

"This is a marvellous research tool which has tremendous potential, limited only by the imagination of the user. I used Scopus to identify research trends, rising stars, and competing journals."

Vincent H.L. Lee, Food and Drug Administration, USA

"I find that Scopus is a great asset to my journal work. I use it all the time to find reviewers for my Journal. In fact, I have stopped using my own database of referees as I find that Scopus does it much better."

Author email address now available to editors

As a response to feedback received, authors’ email addresses are now conveniently located in their Scopus author profile.

This saves you time searching for contact details by enabling you to email authors - potential reviewers or editorial board members – from the Author’s Details page in Scopus.

With this enhancement, we continue to support the research community in the fundamentally important task of peer review.

In the interest of security and data privacy, authors’ email addresses will only be available to you, editors, and to reviewers who access Scopus through EES (via the Scopus search bar in EES or when you log in using your EES details to: )
