NASI Young Scientist Award


Introducing the award


India has one of the worlds largest scientific and research workforces with a large number of published papers to their credit. Recognizing India's contribution to world science, ScopusTM instituted the SCOPUS YOUNG SCIENTIST AWARDS in 2006 to recognize and reward the Indian researcher's talent, knowledge and expertise.

Elsevier partnered with the National Academy of Sciences in 2009, which has taken these awards to newer heights amongst the Indian scientific community.

In its 7th year of inception, Nasi-Scopus young scientist award attracted more than 600 applications from multiple premier research institutions across the country. The selection of the winner involves both quantitative and qualitative measures. Scopus ( provides quantitative analysis of the work of the applicants and quality is judged by the esteemed subject experts from across the country. As continuous efforts are being made towards taking these awards to higher levels, we would want to heartily thank all those who contributed to the success story of these awards, starting with the National Academy of Sciences, India for their continued support and association with the awards. We are extremely thankful to all the subject experts who have provided their invaluable time and expertise for the selections. But the real heroes of this event are the young scientist who took time out to apply for this recognition.

Application Process

Application Process

The nomination process for the Elsevier research awards is executed based upon agreement between Elsevier and the sponsoring organization in the country or region where the award is issued. The nomination process of researchers or institutions is subject to the timing defined in the rules and regulations for each individual award.

Selection criteria for awards maybe based on the following factors:

  • Researcher/author's number of publications
  • Number of citations
  • H-index from the world's largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature – Scopus
  • Social impact

The selection of winners among nominated researchers or institutions for awards and their related prizes is carried out according to the rules and regulations for the specified award.
